Vaginal Steaming

Vaginal steaming is a gynecological practice that women have used for centuries. Similar to the ancient practice of Chinese medicine and acupuncture that are invaluable in modern day medicine, we are finding that vaginal steaming can serve to support and heal modern day gynecological issues. The list of support conditions includes bacterial vaginosis, postpartum healing, yeast overgrowth, infertility, irregular periods, painful periods and more.

The herbs we use in the steam mixtures will vary depending on the concern and time of a woman’s cycle. The benefits can include:

1. Regulation of periods
2. Regulation of production and growth of fibroids and cysts
3. Reduction of cramping
4. Treatment of chronic infections, yeast or bacterial
5. Optimization of fertility

Kneeling over, or using a carefully designed stool to sit over a pot of steaming herbs is the best way to administer the steam to female reproductive tissues. Each session may last anywhere from 15-45 minutes and largely depends on the woman’s comfort level during the steam, as well as the symptoms being treated. There is no pain with steaming, and most women describe being relaxed, and empowered.

When steaming it is important to know the times when NOT to steam:

1. During menstruation
2. During pregnancy
3. After insemination while trying to conceive
4. During spontaneous heavy bleeding
5. During hot flashes
6. During miscarriage

We hope to offer steam boxes for sale very soon. Please see link below for easy to follow directions of how to steam without a steam box. If there are ever any questions, always be sure to contact your practitioner before steaming.
